Let's talk about saving money

Since I was little, my mom always told me that I have to save my money. I was lucky to grew up in a family where I had everything I needed, but if I wanted something extra I had to save for it.

I always had to save a part of the money I got from my birthday and holidays, the other part I could use to buy the things that I wanted. I know that saving money is the 'smartest' thing to do, but the older I get the more I changed my mind on certain things.

What if you are saving all your money because you are afraid of what could happen in the (near) future? What if you let big opportunities go because you afraid or you rather save your money than use it? I think that it's important to save money AND to use it.

I know that it sound really cliché but you only live once, your life can be over any second of the day, and it would be sad if you let things go because you were afraid of your money situation. I always make sure that I save a part of my income, even if it's just a few euro's. The rest of my income I use to pay the bills and for some 'extra' things. Money will always be a big part of our lives, but you can't let it take it over. In my opinion it's also important to use or invest your money in things that maybe even improves your life. It can be scary but it can't pull you away from your dreams or goals. It's important to take some risks sometimes.
I try not to worry about it too much anymore, It can give me so much stress and it's just not healthy. Be smart and know what income is and what you'll have to pay each month and it will all be fine.
