Creating the best morning routine for yourself

When you've created a good morning routine which works best for you, getting up in the morning won't be that hard anymore. You'll start the day in a good way because your energy and productivity will get a huge boost.

The most important thing is that you look for a routine that suits you best. You can look at other people's routines and get inspiration from it, but it still has to work for you. And If you create something for yourself, it will be easier to stick to it.

Having a good evening routine is as important as your morning routine. When you find a balance between those two, you'll create a structure for yourself. For example; if you stay up until 2am in the morning, you'll get a hard time waking up at 7am. Not only the hours of sleep is important but also how you're going to sleep.

Here are some tips for in the evening:

  • Try not to look at screens half an hour / an hour before going to bed. Read a book instead, this makes you feel more relaxed and calm.
  • Don't drink coffee a few hours before you'll go to sleep.
  • Put your phone away (which is probably the hardest thing these days).

Don't expect finding the perfect routine instantly. It will take some time and you'll need to try some things out. The thing that works best for me is to get up an hour earlier, so I have plenty of time before I have to leave my house. I'm the kind of person who likes to take my time in the morning to get up and make myself ready for the day. This way I don't have to feel stressed out and I have some extra time to relax and look at my social media, write some things down or to read a bit.

Also very important is that you have to keep motivate yourself, otherwise It will be even harder to get out of bed. Give yourself a reason to wake up. For example I always take an earlier train to my work so I would have thirty minutes of extra time which I use to write. By doing this in the morning, something I really love to do, I already start the day productive and this gives me a great feeling
